Mark-My-Word Proofreading Services
About
Hello! I am glad you have stopped by my page.
My name is Mark Hester, and I am a certified professional proofreader.
I graduated from the general proofreading course at Proofread Anywhere.
My background is eclectic, having degrees in accounting, radiologic technology, and health science. I was a bookkeeper for ten years and then a licensed radiologic technologist for twenty years. More recently, I worked two years as an Epic EHR analyst, and five years as an analyst in clinical informatics. In the past, I have also been an adjunct instructor for a local community college for medical terminology and introductory medical coding.
Language has always fascinated me, though. I enjoy puns, linguistics, words, and grammar structure. Over the past few years, as I anticipated retirement from the medical field, I began to research possibilities for work-from-home jobs and found Proofread Anywhere. I enjoyed the training and courses and look forward to this next chapter of my career.
I am a registered volunteer with Distributed Proofreaders. This organization scans public-domain documents, provides the scanned OCR documents to volunteer proofreaders for rigorous comparison to the original texts, and then submits the documents to the Project Gutenberg electronic archive. The archived texts are free to the public and invaluable in preserving the past.
As a professional proofreader, I feel my varied expertise, talents, and services help others improve themselves through their writing craftsmanship.
“Marking Your Work for Excellence” is my goal.
